Biography

Melissa Roy, DVM,DACVP, is a Veterinary Pathologist within the Emory National Primate Research Center Division of Pathology. She joined the center in August 2020.

Dr. Roy's professional interests include studying the pathogenesis of neoplasia, aging and degenerative diseases through the use of natural animal models and comparative pathology.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Studies from Emory University in 2006, her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science at the University of Minnesota in 2013 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. She passed her veterinary pathology boards in October 2021.

Dr. Roy completed an anatomic pathology residency at the University of California, Davis in 2020, with emphasis on the pathology of laboratory animals. Her last year of residency included specialized training in small laboratory animals at the Comparative Pathology Laboratory in Davis, CA, and nonhuman primates at the California National Primate Research Center.
